Summer of 2011 will have many changes for our small family. Adam pursued a new job that is moving our family to McKinney, Texas. Starting June 1, he is working for Traxxas. And if a move isn't a big enough change already, we are expecting a baby girl due July 19. Alexa already loves "baby sister"! We feel strongly that God has been clear on His plans for us and that makes us so excited for what is in our near future. As we are (sadly) leaving many amazing, amazing friends and family in Kansas, we felt it was important to start the blog back up so we can keep everyone in the loop. Thank you all for your never ending support on this adventure for our growing family!

Family Pictures!!

We just had some AWESOME family pictures done. A friend from church, Jess (www.mommyalwayswrites.com), took pictures of us and did an amazing job editing them. We have so many great pictures and we're thrilled! Here is just a preview of the pictures. I could post 20 more, at least, but you can appreciate these for now. :)
-
It was pretty cold out when we did these, but they still turned out great!

The bottom one on this picture is Alexa displaying her signature ornery grin!

Here's a couple more cute ones of Alexa.

-
We did have one minor mishap when Alexa fell and hit her head on the ground. We tried to take more pictures after we calmed her down and didn't have a lot of luck. She was ready to be done. I had to show this picture... even though it's a sad face, she's still cute.

Tree Farm

This was the first year that Alexa went with Mommy and Daddy to get our Christmas tree. It was pretty cold but she was a trooper! Here's a few pictures. Unfortunately, we didn't get any pictures of Alexa and Daddy... Daddy was too busy cutting down our 13 foot tree!

-
This man is Grandpa Ewing... I promise! :)

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving 2009 was spent in Olathe with the Ewing's. We had lots of good pictures and here's just a brief snapshot of the fun Alexa had.

Alexa LOVES to dance with Mommy. She gets big smiles every time!

Alexa loves Sugar and is always following her or laughing at her. Sugar is great and very tolerant of Alexa.

Having fun with Grandma now.

All that fun and she's worn out at breakfast the day after Thanksgiving. It didn't take her long at all to fall asleep on Aunt Teddi.

Been Busy

Hi strangers! I know I have been slacking on the blog. I do apologize... like I normally do when I go through this phase. I thought I'd have time this week to update but boy the week flew by. I will promise to have Thanksgiving pictures up before Christmas next week!! We also had some really awesome family pictures done last weekend so I will get some of those posted too. So be sure to check back by Wednesday next week and there will be lots of new pictures!!
-
And while I'm on here... Wishing a Happy Anniversary to Adam and I. 5 wonderful years ago we were married on December 18th in Manhattan, Kansas, and to describe how beautiful the day was - December 18th was sunny and around 50 degrees! It was amazing! The cold front came through that night by the time we got to our hotel in Kansas City. Luckily we flew out early in the morning to Mexico and enjoyed a wonderful honeymoon just before Christmas. =) Just love to reminisce!

Moving Around

Alexa has a favorite push toy that she uses to get around pretty well. (Thanks Emily and Dan!!) We would usually let her use it in the living rooms. However, yesterday, I was adventurous and let her use it upstairs (kitchen, hallway, master). I've never let her use it in the kitchen because of the tile floor and being afraid that would hurt pretty bad when she falls. Well, she's been moving so well with it and not falling much that I thought it would be a good time. Oh my! She had a blast! She did really really really well with. I took some pictures with my cell phone first but I can't figure out quickly how to get them to my computer to put online so maybe later. But the first picture, she was hiding behind a curtain, just standing against the glass door. It was pretty funny. Then she moved over to a chair that had my purse on it and started going through my purse. (Our chairs are tall so normally, she can't reach them when she's crawling). And the third picture I took, she was scooting down the hallway. I never touched her at all! I couldn't believe how awesome she was doing. She turns corners, moves the toy when she gets stuck, and can even turn herself around (which she did when Daddy came home as she was walking down the hallway. She turned a full circle so she would walk to Daddy).
-
Well then, I finally got out our camera and was able to get some more pictures. This first one is pretty funny (for now... as I'm sure the 20th time it happens, it won't be as funny). I'm not paying attention to her and then I see that she has pulled open the drawer with my towels in it and continued to pull them all out.

-
So innocent.

-
Ok, moving on... She did close the cabinet door and the drawer before she found her push toy and went cruising somewhere else.

-
Another stop... She just kept checking everything out. It was pretty awesome! We'll be taking that toy to the grandparents for the holidays. So be aware!!

Weekend in Manhattan

A couple weekends ago, Alexa, Adam, and I went to Manhattan to see family and watch some football. Unfortunately, KSU didn't win, but Adam and I had a fun time at the game! We hadn't been to a game in so long. Alexa had fun hanging out with Grandma and Aunt Anna while Adam and I were at the game with Grandpa. Then all of us spent sometime with Great Aunt Jackie and Great Uncle Duke. We didn't get pictures of everyone but we did take some good family pictures in our K-State gear. There's several below but I thought they were all pretty good and have very cute but different expressions from Alexa. Which one is your favorite??

Just felt like taking pictures!

Alexa LOVES stuffed animals. She especially loves her 2 big ones, a bear and a bunny. They're both bigger than her and she just loves to give them hugs.
-
So cute!! Cuddling when her bear.

-
Checking the bear out and getting ready...
-
...for the big hug!!!

-
Well, since we have the camera out... might as well try to get some cute smile pictures. Jojo starts off with her ornery grin.

-
Ok, I guess I'll smile pretty for you mom!

-
Let's see how close I can get to the camera.

-
Cheese!

Reminiscing

I came across this video on my computer today. It is good to reminisce about these big milestones for Alexa. This was over the 4th of July weekend and Alexa had just started the transitioning from laying to sitting. This was a huge moment in our life. It was always so hard for me to imagine Alexa even doing this because it just seemed so hard for her to do. Then she did it! She had only done it a couple times and my dad got out the camera. She was showing off and kept doing it and if you listen to my reaction, I was pretty surprised. Pleasantly surprised! Sitting here and watching the video today just gave me back those excited and happy feelings. Alexa then started crawling on July 20th. Now she's crawling EVERYWHERE and it looks so natural. We didn't even know if she'd even crawl. Like I said, it is good to reminisce so that we remind ourselves not to take things for granted. I hope that everyone who reads this will remind themselves the same thing. Every tiny little milestone is HUGE and treasure every single one of them!
-
Check out how excited she is too. She was so proud of herself. Alexa is always trying so hard and you can tell how rewarded she feels when she finally figures something out! LOVE YOU BABY GIRL! MOMMY AND DADDY ARE ALWAYS SO PROUD OF YOU!

Birthday Pictures

Ok, finally, I'm posting pictures from Alexa's birthday weekend. Little girl is moving around everywhere so I can't leave her unattended for long periods of time to get this blog updated. I'll try to do better. :)

Here's the new 2-year old opening presents with Grandma Munsch.

Alexa is playing with Aunt Tammy. Every time I see this picture, I think of a cat.
